“Virtual Tour” of The New Duke Regional Hospital Behavioral Healthcare and ED Addition

Duke Regional Hospital is in the process of completing construction of their Behavioral Healthcare New Addition and Emergency Department Expansion. This project is very exciting… creating a specialized Behavioral Healthcare Emergency Department that will be able to intake patients with these specialized needs for both behavioral health care and medical healthcare needs to the upmost and best possible care standards.

Larry Holder – the Assistant Director of Engineering Services for Duke Regional Hospital

and

Ashley Lentz Head, Project Manager for Duke Medical System

will lead the discussion from the Owner’s standpoint on Lessons Learned and Intent of this Project as well as the impact that is anticipated within the community by a facility of this type and capability. 

Kevin Turner- Principal Architect of Human eXperience and

Juliane Hatfield – Project Architect of Perkins and Will

Will provide discussion and graphic content on the Science and the Understanding behind the design of this facility.

1.       Goal 1: Identify topics/education focus for our next D2 meeting (open to all districts)

a.       Early February, perhaps 2/3.

b.       3:30-4 Business Meeting & Research Update by Bill Payne

c.       4-5 p.m. Forum/Panel Discussion (See topics list below) If we pick one focus, would recommend preparing for virtual TJC and CMS surveys

2.       Goal 2: Ideas to better support our healthcare facilities in response to COVID-19 pandemic

a.       Create two NCHEA calendar invites to go to all districts 1 hour at end of day). Alternate between Forum/Panel Discussions and Networking/Fun Activity - late February - TRIVIA between districts

b.       Topics

a.       TJC and CMS virtual instead of in-person - how to prepare - Clarence J is a resource, Gary has connections

b.       Preparing for/navigating through crisis response activation in healthcare environments

c.       O2 load issues and ventilators

d.       Others?

3.       General Notes

a.       No in-person meetings being allowed by most healthcare facilities - virtual only

b.       Spring Seminar will keep Cradle Fundraiser golf tournament

c.       Spring Seminar - 100% virtual

d.       NCHEA to create "space/forum" for networking virtually

e.       Social media - way to engage real time - LinkedIn page is being resurrected

f.        CEUs through ASHE for the forum/panel discussions - discuss more at Board Meeting

4.       Reminder about Jacket ordering deadline this Friday, 1/8 for District II Full Healthcare Members!
